Phase 3 · Set your exploration goal

We recommend doing the geological thinking first before start touching layers, because five minutes here can save you hours of chasing ghosts later ;)

A deposit model is a type of deposit you think might be present, this conceptualization helps to vector towards hypotheses and testing them in the app. Examples include porphyry copper or epithermal gold. Each comes with a known set of minerals around it. Write down which model could realistically be present, which minerals would point to it, and which would mark its alteration halo.

If that isn't your background, let the platform do it: click Add → Preset Layers, pick a deposit type, click Add, and it loads the indicator minerals tied to it.

Phase 3 · Set your exploration goal

Ignacy knows the models and their indicator minerals, and with an area open he can help you find the set of layers that will meet your needs. Ask him questions like: "what minerals I can use as indicators for porphyry copper deposits" or just prompt "add me layers related to propylitic zone".

Is your deposit model not in the list? Ask Ignacy to help you find the best mineral set.

Done when

You can name the minerals you expect, or you've decided to look at everything.
