Mineral Prospecting - SFF
Spectral Feature Fitting (SFF) is an algorithm that evaluates how well a pixel matches a reference mineral spectrum. Instead of comparing the entire spectrum at once, it splits it into smaller wavelength ranges — each capturing a key absorption feature of a given mineral. The fit is calculated separately for each interval.
In TerraEye, SFF results are calculated from hyperspectral satellite data — such as EMIT, EnMAP, and PRISMA. Values closer to 1 indicate a better match to the reference mineral spectrum.
