Extracted Edges

Extracted Edges is a feature extraction method that identifies and maps linear structures present in your area of interest, which may indicate geological features such as faults or folds.

In TerraEye, Extracted Edges are derived from the Copernicus GLO-30 Digital Elevation Model (DEM). The confidence value controls the sensitivity of edge detection — the higher the value, the fewer structures are detected.

How to Use the Extracted Edges Layer?

  1. Go to the Data tab, expand Extracted Edges, and click Add layer.
  2. Adjust the Confidence value to control edge detection:
    • increase the high value to detect fewer structures,
    • decrease the high value to reveal more details,
    • increase the low value to break lines apart,
    • decrease the low value to make lines more continuous,
    • reduce the difference between high and low values for more binary behavior,
    • increase the difference between high and low values for more stable contours.
  3. Select specific edge types to filter the results if needed. Update your selection at any time by adding or removing individual edges.
