Global Gravity Model

Analyze large-scale gravitational properties of your area to support regional geological interpretation.


How to Use the Global Gravity Model Layer?

  1. Go to the Data tab, expand Global Gravity Model, and click Add layer next to the layer you want to analyze.
  2. Use the sliders to adjust the displayed value range.
  3. Customize the layer appearance by changing its color in the layer properties.

The following layers are available:

  • Quasigeoid Height [m] — shows height variations of Earth's gravity field. Best used for understanding deep tectonic architecture at a regional scale.
  • Total Absolute Gravity [mGal] — shows total gravitational acceleration at the surface. Best used as a reference gravity field or input for regional analysis.
  • Gravity Disturbance [mGal] — shows deviations from a smooth reference Earth model. Best used for analyzing mass distribution patterns across large geological domains.
  • Deflection East [arcsec] — shows east-west horizontal variations in the gravity field. Best used for identifying regional-scale gravity gradients and structural transitions.
  • Deflection North [arcsec] — shows north-south horizontal variations in the gravity field. Best used for detecting broad-scale density gradients and regional tectonic domains.
