Global Gravity Model¶
Analyze large-scale gravitational properties of your area to support regional geological interpretation.
How to Use the Global Gravity Model Layer?¶
- Go to the Data tab, expand Global Gravity Model, and click Add layer next to the layer you want to analyze.
- Use the sliders to adjust the displayed value range.
- Customize the layer appearance by changing its color in the layer properties.
The following layers are available:
- Quasigeoid Height [m] — shows height variations of Earth's gravity field. Best used for understanding deep tectonic architecture at a regional scale.
- Total Absolute Gravity [mGal] — shows total gravitational acceleration at the surface. Best used as a reference gravity field or input for regional analysis.
- Gravity Disturbance [mGal] — shows deviations from a smooth reference Earth model. Best used for analyzing mass distribution patterns across large geological domains.
- Deflection East [arcsec] — shows east-west horizontal variations in the gravity field. Best used for identifying regional-scale gravity gradients and structural transitions.
- Deflection North [arcsec] — shows north-south horizontal variations in the gravity field. Best used for detecting broad-scale density gradients and regional tectonic domains.
