AI Clusters

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Clusters are created using an unsupervised machine learning model — specifically, the k-means method. Clusters help you better understand your area of interest and discover new patterns. Areas sharing the same cluster are spectrally similar and likely represent the same lithology. Adjusting the number of clusters can reveal more distinct lithologies and minerals.

In TerraEye, AI Clusters can be calculated from both multispectral and hyperspectral satellite data.

How to Use the AI Clusters Layer?

  1. Go to the Data tab, expand AI Clusters, and click Add layer.
  2. Expand the Provider section and select a satellite image source.
  3. Adjust the number of clusters — areas sharing the same cluster have similar spectral and lithological properties.
  4. Select specific cluster groups to keep only those that highlight lithologies of interest. Update your selection at any time by adding or removing individual clusters.
